Paterson, New Jersey (My9NJ) –Charges have been brought down against the children who allegedly beat the neighborhood cat, Quattro, with stones and bricks causing injuries so severe that he died.
The ages of the kids who allegedly did this are 6, 10 and 12 years-old and they’ve since been charged with delinquency. If they had been adults, they would have faced more serious charges of animal cruelty resulting in death.
Kathleen Schatzmann works for the New Jersey chapter of the Humane Society of the United States. She says that what these kids did in harming the cat is not normal childhood behavior.
“So this is a very large red-flag. Everybody should take notice of this and we do hope that those students are gonna get some intervention and an extraordinary amount of counseling,” she said.
