Both practices are horrific and have no place in a civilised world. Sadly it appears the world is not advancing in any civilised meaningful way, but rather is more and more regressive with each year that passes.
When I first read this news about a document released by the Environmental Investigation Agency, a London-based nonprofit, and the U.S.-based Animal Welfare Institute, I thought it was a bad April Fool’s joke.
Sadly it’s not!
Norway is one of the three countries that continues to commercially hunt whales.
Norway has a thriving fur industry. According to the press release, last year alone Norway “exported between 258 tons of fox skins and 1,000 tons of mink skins to the European Union”.
Because very few people in Norway want to eat whale meat, this meat is ending up in the feed manufactured for animals on fur farms.
Rogaland Pelsdyrfôrlaget is the largest manufacturer of animal feed for Norway’s fur industry and includes whale meat in its feed.
A whale being dismembered in Norway, only to be fed to animals on fur farms!
SHAME ON NORWAY.
